Wedding Planning With Your Family
Family members often love to be included in your wedding planning, but it can be tricky if you live far away and are coming home for your wedding.
Some Handy Hints
Here are a few suggestions to help make your loved ones a part of the lead up to your wedding day
- Are you buying your dress overseas or interstate? Take photos of wedding dresses you’re considering and send them to your interested family members. Better still, call them on FaceTime, WhatsApp, etc. while you’re shopping so they can see the dresses you are trying on. Take a friend with you to hold the phone so your family can see you wearing the dresses. As well as a photo of each dress, also take photos of any detail such as lace, beading, etc. so they can have a closer look at the fabric
- Delegate some tasks. Ask family members to find accommodation for people travelling a long way to be at your wedding. Ask them to look into buses or taxis for getting guests to and from the venue. Maybe they could check out wedding cars or limousines if you’re thinking of hiring cars. Perhaps a family member could help with sourcing wedding favours and attaching name tags to them
- Send them a photo of the type of bouquet you like. Ask them to get quotes for it and other wedding flowers
- Check with your parents whether there are any family traditions that you could include in your wedding or any special family items that you might use. Maybe your mum or grandma can help find your “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”
- Send a photo of your colour scheme. If they are getting new dresses for your wedding, they can make sure that their outfit won’t be the same colour as the bridesmaids’ dresses or clash with them
- If a member of your family has nice handwriting, perhaps they could handwrite names on place cards or write signs directing people to the ceremony area
Wedding planning with your family can be an enjoyable experience for everyone.
