Wedding at Fingal

Wedding at Fingal

Couples planning to tie the knot on the beach might not consider having their wedding at Fingal.  Fingal is a quiet little gem of a seaside village. It’s just south of Tweed Heads in New South Wales and is a fabulous spot for a beach wedding away from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast.

Why Choose Fingal

The pros of having a wedding at Fingal:

  • Fingal is beautiful. The beaches are broad and sandy and much quieter than Greenmount, Rainbow Bay and other popular beaches nearby. The foreshore reserves are great places to get married as they are are well kept and shady. Get a permit to use these areas from the Tweed Shire Council website
  • The views are spectacular. Views stretch north to Post Danger, south to Kingscliff and east to Cook Island. There is also a cute little lighthouse. Fingal is definitely a great spot for those all-important wedding photos
  • It is close to Gold Coast Airport therefore super handy for guests attending a wedding at Fingal
  • It is only about 90 minutes by road from Brisbane
  • Fingal is very close to the southern end of Queensland’s Gold Coast. The Gold Coast has accommodation options to suit every budget and there is quite a bit of accommodation at Fingal itself so accommodation for guests will never be a problem
  • There are plenty of reception venues in Tweed Heads and on the Gold Coast. These venues can accommodate every size and style of wedding.  Saltwater is located at Fingal. It has a ceremony area on a deck with sea views and a variety of wedding packages to suit up to 150 guests

The cons of having a wedding at Fingal:

  • The areas in which ceremonies may be held are restricted. Ceremonies are allowed on the main beach and in the foreshore reserve. They are not permitted on the headland near the lighthouse or on nearby Dreamtime Beach
  • Saltwater Restaurant is the only local reception venue for a wedding at Fingal. Guests will need to drive to reach other venues

Alternatives to a Wedding at Fingal

Although Fingal is beautiful but there are some other fabulous Gold Coast wedding options you might like to consider. Froggy’s Beach at Rainbow Bay, Coolangatta is a secluded and intimate spot for a ceremony right on the southern end of the Gold Coast. Further north, Currumbin and Broadbeach both have fabulous wide sandy spaces that are great for ceremonies and not too busy. Surfers Paradise and Southport have some lovely places to get married although they don’t have Fingal’s seaside village charm. These Gold Coast wedding parks are perfect for your big day if standing on sand isn’t your thing.
